Where will the 2023 Miami Open be Played?

The 2023 Miami Open will take place in Miami Gardens, Florida—some 26 km north of Downtown Miami—U.S.

The tournament will run from March 19 (WTA qualifying)/March 20 (ATP qualifying) until April 2, 2023, when the women’s and men’s singles finals will be held.

The event will be staged at the Hard Rock Stadium which has been the new home of the Miami Open since 2019.

The Miami Open is the second Masters 1000 tournament on the men’s tour and the third WTA 1000 on the women’s calendar.

What’s the 2023 Miami Open Schedule?

The 2023 Miami Open will kick off with WTA qualifying on Sunday, March 19, and ATP qualifying on Monday, March 20 with 48 players across both tours competing in two rounds, vying for 12 main draw spots.

On Monday, March 20, the second round of WTA qualifying will be completed and qualifiers will be placed in the main draw.

Main draw action on the WTA section will commence on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, with a few first-round matches, while the ATP qualifying will be completed on the same day.

Main draw action on the men’s section will commence on Wednesday, March 22, 2023.

Who is Playing at the 2023 Miami Open?

The 2023 Miami Open will feature a 96-player draw in both the men’s and women’s sections. Although the draw is yet to be released at the time of writing, the player list is now confirmed.

Carlos Alcaraz could walk in as the new World No. 1 at the Miami Open if he can clinch the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. He is due to play Daniil Medvedev later on Sunday.

It is pretty much the same top-8 seeds at this tournament as in Indian Wells. The big misses include Novak Djokovic (unvaccinated), Rafael Nadal (leg injury), Nick Kyrgios (knee injury), and Sebastian Korda (wrist).

Dominic Thiem has received a wild card, while Kyle Edmund and Gael Monfils enter the tournament with a protected ranking.

For the women’s side of things, the top 20 is almost at full strength although the tournament is sweating on the fitness of World No. 1 Iga Swiatek who complained of picking up a rib injury at Indian Wells. Swiatek will carry out tests in the build-up to the tournament and make a decision on whether to play or not.

Among the seven wild cards for the women include 17-year-old Filipina Alexandra Eala, 18-year-old Russian Erika Andreeva, and 18-year-old American Ashlyn Krueger.

12 players will join from the qualifying draw on both tours.

Miami Open 2023 Prize Money

The ATP and WTA Tour have equal prize money for the Miami Open with each section having a purse of $8,800,000. This is identical to the Indian Wells financial outlay and is roughly 2.52% up from last year’s total prize money.

In addition, the winner will pick up 1000 ranking points, while the finalist will collect 600 ranking points.
