Zverev Reached Fourth Round in Indian Wells

Zverev has a good record in Miami. He reached the final in 2018, and has made the last eight on two other occasions.

The German is very much on the comeback trail having missed the second part of last season after surgery to repair the ankle ligament damage that he suffered at the French Open, but he has is now clear off that, as well as the domestic abuse allegations that were hanging over him.

It took him a little time to shake off the rust this year, but a semi-final in Doha gave hints that he may be heading back to his best.

And there was more evidence of that in Indian Wells, where he reached the fourth round.

He would eventually lose to Daniil Medvedev, but he took the world number five to three close sets.

The German received a first round bye in Miami courtesy of his seeding and ranking.

Daniel Benefits From Injury Retirement

Daniel has already enjoyed a productive season, with his first win over a top ten player at the Mexican Open, where he beat Casper Ruud, and then, after coming through qualifying, reaching the third round of a Masters’ tournament for the second time in his career in Indian Wells.

Matteo Berrettini was one of his victims in California.

Spared the rigours of qualifying in Miami this time, the Japanese number two instead was drawn against the French world number 72, Arthur Rinderknech.

Daniel began strongly, and raced into a four love lead, before Rinderknech finally got on the scoreboard, But then the Frenchman called for a medical time-out and eventually retired with an abdominal injury after just 23 minutes on court.

Zverev v Daniel Prediction and Tip

Zverev will be looking to continue his comeback with another good run in Miami, and Daniel does not appear to have the game to derail the German, who is determined to make up for lost time.
