Borna Coric had a really short stay in Indian Wells losing to Alex Molcan in straight sets and that’s a really bad loss. The Slovakian player is not a great hard court player though his tenacity can give a lot of problems to players and that was a major issue for Coric.
His game has improved a lot since he returned from the shoulder injury but it’s still a bit inconsistent highlighted by his 7-6 record so far this year. He’s capable of far better and a top-20-ranked player like him certainly should be winning more than every other match.
Miami could give him a decent shot due to his serve being a major weapon. He hasn’t served well in a while but maybe the familiarity of Miami serves him well.
He was a quarter-finalist in 2018 and 2019 here so it’s a court that does play into his strengths. He’s favoured in this one but it won’t easy.

Eubanks Earns Big Win
Christopher Eubanks is trying to finally enter the top 100 after him trying to get it done for years. He’s somewhat of a casual player because he doesn’t play as much as he could. He could have entered the top 100 sooner if he really wanted to do but he did Tennis Channel gigs on the side showing that his interests are varied.
The American is playing more seriously this year and a good run here could certainly push him through. He won two qualifying matches and now the R1 one over Kudla as well.
The serve is a major weapon due to his large frame and the forehand goes really well along with that. He has some glaring flaws so he’s certainly beatable but on his day with the serve firing on all cylinders, he can be tricky to beat.
The key to winning is probably to be aggressive and let his groundstrokes do the talking. The margin for error will be small so he will need to be really strong. 9-7 on the year so far.
Coric v Eubanks Prediction and Tip
Coric is the better player and should win this one if things play out as expected but I predict that the American will keep it quite close so the over is the best odd.
