Diego Schwartzman finally got a win as he defeated Yibing Wu in two sets, something that surprised more than a few. Everybody expected the Chinese player to get this done in the faster court of Miami but Schwartzman played a really strong match to win.

He’s still having a really poor year with a 3-8 record so far and nobody really expected things to get better in Miami of all places. He’ll certainly take on Rune with a bit more confidence now but it likely won’t matter.
The key for Schwartzman in this match will be to return as well as he can. Rune can be quite risky in his approach, especially if you put him under a lot of pressure. Schwartzman never played against him before so he might surprise him with his tennis.
He’ll also need to be precise in his serves because Rune will attack early and often and if he doesn’t find a way to counter that, he’ll be in a lot of trouble.

Rune Downs Fucsovics
Holger Rune bounced back from the Indian Wells loss rather well beating Fucsovics who was amazing last week in Indian Wells. His tennis this year has been largely up and down but he’s still managed to earn some impressive wins which show how talented he is.
Even with a level below his best tennis, he’s still among the best in the world. The score this year is a fairly solid 13-6 and he’s likely to extend that here.
The reasons why he is favoured are simple. Firstly he has a really heavy game that can overpower even stronger opponents than Schwartzman. Secondly, he seems to have found his serve again which will make things a lot easier for him.
If he can return well on top of all of that he’ll cruise in this one. He’s just a better player playing with more confidence right now.
