Hubert Hurkacz v Adrian Mannarino Head to Head

Hurkacz leads 2-1. He won in Rotterdam in 2021 and at the Paris Masters last year. Mannarino won their meeting at the Australian Open in 2022.

Hurkacz Saves 5 MPs to Beat Kokkinakis

In an extraordinary turnaround, Hubert Hurkacz saved five match points to edge past Thanasi Kokkinakis in the longest three-set match of the season, which saw all three sets go into the tiebreak.

The world no. 9 Hurkacz, who won the Miami Open title in 2021, squandered six set points in the first set tiebreak, with the Aussie eventually winning it 10-12.

In the second set tiebreak, Hurkacz faced two match points at 4-6. He saved both of them and then saved another at 6-7 before eventually going on to win 9-7. Kokkinakis held two more match points in the final set tiebreak as he led 4-6, but once again it was the Pole’s heroics that denied the world no. 94 a chance to cause an upset. Hurkacz won four points in a row to script an unbelievable 6-7 (10-12), 7-6 (9-7), 7-6 (8-6) victory in three hours and 31 minutes.

Hurkacz struck 21 aces and 41 winners to Kokkinakis’ 23 aces and 51 winners. He, however, made 28 unforced errors to the Australian’s 35.

The win improved Hurkacz to 14-6 in 2023. He won his sixth ATP title by winning the Marseille Open earlier this year.

In Miami, the 26-year-old improved to 13-2. He had won the title in 2021 and was a semifinalist last year. This is his fourth appearance in the tournament this year.

Mannarino Edges Past Shelton

Adran Mannarino won a second straight three-setter in Miami to move into the third round of the tournament for the fifth time in his career.

The Frenchman, whose best has been fourth round finishes in 2015 and 2017, had begun his 2023 campaign with a come-from-behind three-set win over Shang Juncheng in the first round.

He followed up the 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 victory with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 win over 32nd seed Ben Shelton of the United States in the second round.

Mannarino, ranked no. 62, saved 1 of 3 break points but he converted 4 of 9 to beat the world no. 39 and improve his season record to 11-8. The lefty had also made it to the third round in Indian Wells and was a quarterfinalist in Dallas and Delray Beach.

Can the 34-year-old continue his march forward in the tournament?

Hurkacz v Mannarino Prediction and Tip

Hurkacz’s recent form is better than Mannarino and after the incredible second round turnaround, the Pole’s confidence will be even higher. Expect the eighth seed to advance into the fourth round with a win on Monday.
