Andrey Rublev v Jannik Sinner Head to Head

There have been four previous meetings between these two players and both have won two apiece. Three of those four have come on clay.

Rublev Routs Kecmanovic

While Rublev did face a challenge in his second round match against JJ Wolf, his win over Miomir Kecmanovic was a lot simpler.

Rublev did not even need an hour in removing Kecmanovic from his path as he came through 6-1, 6-2 in the third round. Slamming 12 aces in the encounter, Rublev won 84% of the first serve points on offer and ensured he did not face a single break-point.

In turn, he got the better of his Serbia opponent’s serve on four occasions.

This meant that for the second ATP 1000 tournament in a row, Rublev had managed to make it through to the fourth round. What he would want is to go one better than what he did at the Indian Wells Open where he had lost in straight sets to Cameron Norrie.

Sinner Untroubled by Dimitrov

Sinner has been one of the most consistent players on the circuit for a while now and he reached the fourth round in Miami yet again after having done that in both his previous appearances at this tournament.

In fact Sinner, who was a losing finalist at the Miami Masters in 2021 and made the quarterfinal here in 2022, will hope to do as well if not better than that.

And there are enough signs that he has a good shot at it.

Grigor Dimitrov was the latest of victim of his solidity and consistency as Sinner carved out a 6-3, 6-4 win over his Bulgarian opponent to make the round of 16. In a match lasting less than an hour and a half, Sinner might have dropped his serve twice including in the very game of the second set but had enough fuel in his tank to come back and win.

He will have a much more challenging Rublev coming up against him in the fourth round but would know he has the game to get past his Russian opponent.

Rublev v Sinner Prediction and Tip

Sinner starts an 11/20 favourite here, with Rublev going in at 6/4 to win it. Sinner holds a slight edge for us, which is why those odds might be too short for his win. Games handicap looks to be a decent option here.
