Aryna Sabalenka v Ajla Tomljanovic Head to Head

The two players have met only once on the WTA Tour in the 2018 WTA ‘S-Hertogenbosch. Sabalenka won that thrilling encounter in three sets.

Sabalenka Makes her Top 10 Debut

Around the same time last year, the 20-year-old Belarusian was the World No. 63. Within just one year, she has turned all of that around and is now enjoying her success at the No. 9 position.

Sabalenka won a couple of Premier-level events in Wuhan and Connecticut last year that pushed her into the top 20. She then started this season with a winning run in Shenzhen, lifting the third-singles title of her career.

What followed next was a rather disappointing showing in the Australian Open series but she made up for it in St. Petersburg, where she reached the semis. She also did well in the Fed Cup, winning both of her fixtures and finally concluded her February action with a third round stint in Dubai.

Tomljanovic Hoping for a Hua Hin Re-Run

Tomljanovic’s start to the year was not that eventful, barring a quarterfinal feat in Brisbane. Post that, she participated in the Hua Hin Championships where she lost in the final to Dayana Yastremska. That was her fourth runner-up trophy on the whole.

The young Aussie then played in Doha and Dubai where she lost in the first rounds to Julia Goerges and Saisai Zheng respectively.

Despite this, she is currently the World No. 44 – her second-best ranking after touching the 40th position in February this year. There have been some improvements in her form but she still has a long way to go.

Aryna Sabalenka v Ajla Tomljanovic Tips & Predictions

Sabalenka has lost only a handful of matches so far this year of which, a couple came against the likes of Amanda Anisimova and Belinda Bencic. Last season too, she was stunned by many unseeded, lowly-ranked players. Therefore, Tomljanovic certainly has a chance to win here although, she will have to bring her A game.

Tip: Two sets in the match: 4/9 (betway)
