Carlos Alcaraz v Jannik Sinner Head to Head

There have been five previous meetings between these two players and Alcaraz leads 3-2 on head to head. They had met as recently as the semifinal of the Indian Wells Open too, and Alcaraz did have some trouble before winning in two.

Alcaraz Toys with Fritz

It’s been 12 matches since Alcaraz last lost a match. In the 11 matches that have followed since Alcaraz’s last defeat, the Spaniard has won everything without dropping a set and Taylor Fritz turned out to be another of those victims.

In fact, the former world number five barely had a chance, garnering six games in his straight-set defeat to Alcaraz.

Alcaraz was on court for a mere hour and 19 minutes before clinching a place in the semifinal 6-4, 6-2 with Fritz unable to get past his serve. What was rather impressive to watch was the world number notching up 65% second serve points won even as Fritz won a mere 38%.

That’s where the difference lay between the two players as Alcaraz set the tone by breaking his opponent in the very first game and repeating the same in the first game of the second set too. He got himself a second break of serve in the seventh and completed the win by serving out to love.

Sinner Cruises to Easy Win over Ruusuvuori

Much like Alcaraz, Sinner did not have any issues winning his quarterfinal either. The world number 11 crushed Ruusuvuori 6-3, 6-1 to march into his second semifinal in a row after having done the same in Indian Wells as well two weeks ago.

The match lasted a mere hour and 16 minutes and saw Sinner face a mere one break-point. He saved that and in turn broke Ruusuvuori four times in the encounter. What was so fascinating about Sinner’s game was his first serve percentages, which saw him win 21 of the 22 points.

Even his second serve percentage was 60, twice his opponent’s numbers.

This victory followed his wins over Grigor Dimitrov and Andrey Rublev in the previous rounds, and was his 20th of the season. Sinner has lost just four matches and three of those have come against Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alcaraz himself.

Shows where he belongs – in the top 10, if not top five at the moment.

Alcaraz v Sinner Prediction and Tip

Alcaraz has looked far too good for a while now but the same can be said about Sinner. We think Sinner will be a hard nut to crack and a scoreline of the likes of 7-5, 7-5 or even one or two tie-breakers could be on show.
