After a below-par start to the season, Rodionov seems to have found a bit of his mojo in the last one or so month.
The Austrian player reached the quarterfinal of the Rovereto and Pau Challenger in late February, before taking that step-up in Biel where he went on to win his first title of the season. It was his sixth career Challenger tournament win.
This was followed by Rodionov making it to the semifinal of the Lille Challenger.
The thing to be noted here is Rodionov has got all these results on the quicker indoor courts. On clay, while he doesn’t have a bad record, things would be very different. Especially against a player who has been bred on such surfaces.

Ramos-Vinolas Looking to Clay to Cure Woes
It’s been an extraordinarily difficult season for Ramos-Vinolas so far with the Spaniard winning just four of the 14 matches he has played in 2023.
The good news for him, however, is all four of those wins came on the clay courts of the South American competitions in February. He will now hope to build on those results and notch up victories wherever possible late in his career.
Ramos-Vinolas will be in familiar territories too. This is the venue where he won the third of his four ATP titles and that came as recently as in 2021. The Spaniard had added a fourth in Cordoba last season.
To add to that, Ramos-Vinolas also reached the semifinal here last year and that should give him quite some confidence coming into this tournament.

Despite Ramos-Vinolas’s poor form this season, he should find his lost rhythm on clay and begin this clay court swing with a win. Might take him three sets though.
