Nadia Podoroska v Sinja Kraus Head to Head

This will be their first meeting on the WTA Tour.

Kraus in a Superb Form

20-year-old Sinja Kraus of Austria is set for a confident start in this year’s Copa Colsanitas. She has spent the last few weeks in Colombia, participating in ITF clay tournaments – with a lot of success.

In Anapoima, she was the runner-up, and she fell to Arantxa Rus in the final. Kraus followed that with a title run in Mosquera next.

That was Sinja’s 12th ITF career final – 10 of which have come on clay courts. She is also 11-7 this season.

Over the last few years, Kraus has worked hard to move up in the rankings – a feat she is accomplishing on the back of positive results on clay. Her experience in top-tier tournaments is admittedly low, with her notable highlight being her first-round appearance in the Prague Open last season (as a qualifier).

Podoroska Looking Sharp

Things have gone well for Argentina’s Nadia Podoroska of late. She is 12-7 in 2023, having recently won the Copa Bionaire Challenger.

She also has got an intriguing history in Bogota; she reached the doubles final in 2017 (won with Beatriz Haddad Maia) and 2018 (runner-up with Mariana Duque).

Like Kraus, Podoroska has also enjoyed a great deal of success in clay events – evident from her 14 ITF singles and 9 doubles finals on the circuit.

As for her form this year, she started off on a rough note with four losses in the United Cup, followed by a round two exit in the Australian Open. Later, she also reached the semis at ITF Mexico City.

Podoroska v Kraus Prediction and Tip

This will be an interesting match. Both players seem to be in their element when playing on the dirt track; Podoroska has the advantage of being better experienced at 26 years of age, but Kraus’s recent form and momentum will make things troublesome for her.
