Known for his excellence in hardcourt competitions, Hurkacz has a career-high ranking of ninth in the world. He has fallen three places since but that doesn’t take away from the solid start he has made to the season having won 14 of the 21 matches so far.
On clay, Hurkacz might not be the best in the business but knows his way around.
For instance, last year the Polish number one made the quarterfinal at the Monte-Carlo Masters and and then did the same in Madrid as well.
He would go on to enter the fourth round at the French Open where it took the eventual finalist Casper Ruud to take him down but not before Hurkacz had taken a set off him.

Miralles Goes Past Qualifier Rocha
Henrique Rocha has never been ranked better than 590th in the world but he did make it through the qualifiers to set up a first round match against Miralles. And for a while he put up a strong showing in the first set before Miralles took control and ran away with the match.
Still, Miralles needed an hour and 37 minutes as he came through 6-4, 6-2 to seal his second round berth.
An early break of serve in the first set gave Miralles the advantage and while he missed a set-point on both, his opponent and his own serve, he soon claimed the lead.
In the second, an emboldened Miralles broke Rocha in the very first game and then went 4-1 ahead with a second break. He lost his serve in the sixth game but wrapped up the encounter soon after that with a third service break of the set.
That gave him his 19th win on clay to go with 18 losses – he is 5-18 on win-loss on other surfaces! Can he make it a 20th win here?

Hurkacz hasn’t played any match on clay this season and that could be bit of a concern going up against a clay-court specialist. You would probably still back him to win it but might drop a set doing so.
