They have met five times before with Krajinovic holding a 3-2 record. On the tour though, it will be their third meeting, with both sharing the spoils from their previous encounters.

A semifinalist at the Prague Challenger last week, Filip Krajinovic will be going to Rome feeling a lot more confident about his game, particularly after a difficult four months on the tour.

The Serbian, who won two matches to reach the last eight of his season opener in Pune, won just one more tour-level match and that was against Aslan Karatsev in Montpellier. Apart from those three wins in two tournaments, the Serbian made a shocking eight first round exits and that included one at the Phoenix Challenger.

Overall Krajinovic is 7-12 across levels this year. On the tour, the 31-year-old is 3-9 so far.

The world no. 74 has won 10 Challenger titles on clay. He has never won a title on the tour, but has played in five finals with two of those coming on clay.

In Rome, this will be Krajinovic’s fourth appearance. He made it to the round of 16 in 2020 and 2022, while he exited the tournament in the first round in 2021.

Last year, his two wins came over Frances Tiafoe and Andrey Rublev. So he can be a dangerous player, but his form remains a major concern this year. Can he deliver in the Rome Masters?

Marton Fucsovics will be playing in the main draw in Rome for the third time. He lost in the opening round in 2019 and in the second round in 2021.

The Hungarian has seen plenty of ups and downs over the last two years, not having much success at the tour level.

This year, he has an overall record of 15-11, which includes a 3-3 run on clay. But seven of those 15 wins have come at the Challenger or qualifying level.

Fucsovics had begun the year by winning the Canberra Challenger on hard court. He also made it to the round of 16 in Indian Wells.

The world no. 83, who also made it to the third round of the Australian Open, has a better record on indoor and outdoor hard courts than on clay. It will be interesting to see how he goes about his business against Krajinovic on Wednesday.

Krajinovic v Fucsovics Prediction and Tip
