Roger Federer v Kyle Edmund Head to Head

The two players have never met on the ATP circuit, but have practiced together on several occasions.

Federer Looking for Title #6

Swiss Maestro Roger Federer comes into Indian Wells at the back of a successful Dubai Open campaign where he won his 100th ATP title. Federer has been in good form at Indian Wells, winning his first two matches in straight sets, and looked especially strong in his third round encounter against friend and fellow countryman Stanislas Wawrinka.

Federer is a five time winner at Indian Wells, tied with Novak Djokovic. Incidentally, with Djokovic losing in the third round to German Philipp Kohlschreiber, Federer will fancy his chances at a sixth title here this week.

The Federer serve and groundstrokes have been clinical since the latter stages of the Dubai Open and he will hope to carry it through this week.

Edmund Looking to Continue Strong Run

Kyle Edmund is on a seven match winning streak and is coming into the match high on confidence. Edmund had a career best year in 2018, that ended prematurely with injury. Although 2019 did not get off to the best of starts for him, he has pulled it back together with some convincing wins.

Edmund began his campaign against Nicolas Jarry, who came in after beating Australian Open quarterfinalist Frances Tiafoe in the first round. Edmund, however crushed Jarry, 6-0, 6-2 and followed it in the third round, beating Delray Beach Open champion Radu Albot in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.

The Edmund forehand has been in lethal form of late, and he will hope it remains similar against Federer.

Federer v Edmund Predictions & Tips

Edmund is in form and playing with confidence, and the conditions at Indian Wells will suit his playing style as well. The Edmund forehand has plenty of power and spin, and will not be easy for any on these courts.

However, he is up against a player with five Indian Wells titles, in strong form, and more variety and experience than any on the tour. Expect a good battle with Federer winning in two close sets.

Tip: Federer to win 2-0: 7/10 (Unibet)
