Milos Raonic v Miomir Kecmanovic Head to Head

The two men have met once before, and, those looking for a form guide, may be interested to know that it was only two months ago at the Brisbane Open. On that occasion Raonic won in straight sets 6-3, 7-6.

Raonic, Looking for another Indian Wells Semis

Raonic reached the semi-final stage in this tournament last year before losing to eventual winner Juan-Martin del Potro, and must have an excellent chance now of repeating that feat.

The world number 14 has grown into this tournament, beating another big server Sam Querry in the first round, before almost going out in his next match to American qualifier Marcos Giron in his next match.  He was a break down in the third set, before his serve and superior ground strokes got him out of trouble, and he won four games on the bounce to progress.

He then had little difficulty in disposing of Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff, conqueror of Alexander Zverev in his last-sixteen match. With just lucky loser Kecmanovic standing in his way, a place in the last four beckons.

Kecmanovic, Lucky loser setting records

In reaching the quarter-final stage, Kecmanovic has set his own piece of history, becoming the first lucky loser to reach this far into a Masters 1000 Event since the series began in 1990.

Only able to take his place into the main draw because of the elbow injury which forced Kevin Anderson to pull out of the tournament, he has taken full opportunity of the chance given him. He began by beating Germany’s Maximilian Marterer, and then defeated compatriot Laslo Dere, winner of the recent Rio Open, in his next match.

His luck then kicked in again in his fourth round match with Yoshito Nishioka, with the Japanese fored to retire after the first set, which the Serb had just taken.

His run will already help him break into the top 100, but anything from here on in is just an added bonus.

Raonic v Kecmanovic Predictions & Tips

As might be expected, Raonic starts as heavy favourite at 3/14, whilst you can get a bet on Kecmanovic to win at 43/10. The Serbian has had a scarcely believable run to this stage in the competition, but it is hard to see anything but a Raonic win.

Tip: Raonic to win 2-0: 8/13 (Betfair)
