Stephens In Good Form on Clay

It’s been a roller-coaster season for Sloane Stephens so far, but the American comes to Rabat in good form having won a WTA 125 title on clay earlier this month.

In what was her maiden Challenger final, Stephens ousted Greet Minnen in straight sets to claim the Saint Malo title.

The world no. 36 Stephens is 11-10 overall and 7-3 on clay, which includes her run to the Challenger title.

After getting off to a 0-3 start in 2023, Stephens finally won matches in Merida and Austin, falling in the quarterfinals of both the tournaments. However, just when it seemed the former no. 3 was back in form, he form suffered again. She won just one match in her next four tournaments, before going all the way to the title in Saint Malo.

Most recently, she played in Rome where she  won the first round but lost in the second.

A seven-time winner from 10 finals, Stephens was a French Open finalist in 2018 and a winner in Charleston in 2016. Those were the only two clay court finals over her career.

Can the second seed make a good start on her Rabat debut?
