Miomir Kecmanovic had the straightforward task of playing lucky loser Oriol Roca Batalla, who was appearing in the main draw of an ATP event for the first time since 2018.
The Serbian World No. 6 made short work of the 310th-ranked Spaniard, winning 6-1 6-3 in just 74 minutes.
Kecmanovic made a lightning-fast start breaking the 30-year-old in the first game of the match and quickly surged to wrap up the set with two more breaks in just 35 minutes.
Roca Batalla raised his level in the second set, particularly on serve where he fired three aces and won 93% first-serve points. He also saved three of four break points he faced in the set.
Ultimately though, Kecmanovic only needed one and took it in the sixth game of the set to take 4-2 lead. The Serbian star did not relinquish a single game on his own serve and closed out a straight-sets win.

Draper Cruises Past Muller
Jack Draper won just his second match on the European clay swing this season after breezing past Marrakech finalist Alexandre Muller in straight sets.
Having played just one tournament on clay before this week, it looked Draper would woefully short of match sharpness.
But like Kecmanovic, Draper faced no issues in tearing apart Muller’s weaker first serve. Draper won 39% return points on Muller’s first delivery and 50% behind his second.
The Briton was mightily impressive on his own serve despite missing from competition for over a month. Draper tallied six aces and dropped just five points on his first serve.
The 60th-ranked Draper broke Muller’s serve three times in the match, with the crucial break coming late in the second set in the eighth game.
Kecmanovic v Draper Prediction and Tip
Draper’s lack of matchplay was not an issue in his opening match. But he’ll face a formidable challenger on this surface in his second match. In the two ATP 250 events prior to Lyon, Kecmanovic has made at least the semifinals. Expecting an engrossing battle, with a tiny edge to the Serbian.
