Jabeur Sends Dodin Out

A sparkling performance from Jabeur in her second round encounter saw her dump Oceane Dodin out of the competition with relative ease.

In a match that lasted an hour and 12 minutes, Jabeur raced away to a 6-2, 6-3 win to reach the third round without dropping a set. She had earlier overcome Lucia Bronzetti, again for the loss of just five games.

Jabeur traded breaks with Dodin in the fourth and fifth games of the opening set but then broke her opponent twice more in a row to capture the set. She went 2-0 up in the second, only for Dodin to level things out at 2-2, but then in the eighth game Jabeur earned herself a decisive break that ended the contest.

This is the fourth time in her career that Jabeur has made the third round at the French Open. She has gone one further than that twice and will definitely come into this as a favourite to make this her third time.

Danilovic Overcomes Paolini

Given the kind of form that Danilovic had exhibited on clay this season, it was not a huge surprise that she had started off a bit of a favourite to win her second round match against Jasmine Paolini.

And not only did she win but also did that in straight sets to make it her 10th win in a row at all levels of tnenis.

Danilovic had come into the qualifiers of this competition on the back of a title win at the Madrid ITF tournament, before winning three matches in a row to make it to the main draw of the French Open.

In the first round, Danilovic routed Kateryna Baindl and then overcame Paolini 6-2, 7-5 in the second to ensure a rare third round berth at the highest level. It took her a mere hour and 36 minutes to complete the win after having broken her opponent six times.

Can she come up with something superlative against the world number seven as well?

Jabeur v Danilovic Prediction and Tip

Jabeur is 1/5 to win this which isn’t a big surprise given the difference in the rankings of the two player and also with Jabeur having found her way back to form. Expect a straight-setter for the Tunisian number one.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Jabeur to win in straight sets: 3/5
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Under 20.5 games in the match: 5/6
