World no. 38 Tallon Griekspoor moved into his second ATP final with a straight sets win over Emil Ruusuvuori in the semifinal of the Rosmalen Open on Saturday.
The sixth seed Dutch player broke the Finn in the very first game of the match and then protected the advantage till the end of the set to take a one-set-to-love lead. In the second set, Griekspoor saved a set point before getting the solitary break of the set and securing a 6-4, 7-5 victory.
Griekspoor was not broken in the match, as he saved all four break points that he faced. In contrast he held six break points in the match and he converted two of them.
The 26-year-old had begun his ‘s-Hertogenbosch campaign with a three set win over Mikael Ymer and followed it up with a straight sets win over Australia’s Alexei Popyrin.
Griekspoor defeated a second Australian in the quarterfinal, beating fourth seed Alex de Minaur 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.
The local hope will face a third Aussie in the final. He is 20-10 this season. He had reached his maiden ATP final at the start of the season, winning the Maharashtra Open. He is in his second final now. Can he win a second title?

World no. 103 Jordan Thompson has reached a second ATP final after he defeated lucky loser Rinky Hijikata in straight sets in the semifinal on Saturday.
Thompson won the first set in the tiebreak and then got the only break of the match in the fourth game of the second set to seal the contest 7-6 (7-5), 6-3.
The 29-year-old Aussie’s first ATP final also came in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, when he reached the title clash in 2019, but he could not win the title as he went down to Adrain Mannarino.
He got his revenge over Mannarino in the quarterfinal this year, beating the Frenchman 5-7, 7-6 (7-2), 6-2.
The Australian had begun his campaign with a 6-4, 7-6 win over Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the first round. He followed it up with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 victory over the returning Milos Raonic in round 2.
The Australian had come into the tournament with a 3-9 record at the tour level, but he has now improved his season record to 7-9 on the tour and 26-14 across levels, which includes two Challenger titles and a run to the semifinal in Surbiton last week.
