Venus Williams v Carla Suarez Navarro Head to Head

The two ladies have met each other nine times on the tour of which, Venus has won on six occasions. The American has brilliantly dominated their last four meetings, with her last win over the Spaniard coming in the 2018 Indian Wells Open.

Williams Looking to Augment her Record in Miami

Just like her sister Serena, Venus too has had a considerable amount of success in the Miami Open. She has won the title thrice in her career – the most at any Premier 5 or Premier Mandatory event.

The 2017 Wimbledon runner-up will be eager to replicate that kind of success once again, especially given that this may very well be her last season on the WTA Tour. Williams is coming in strong with a quarterfinal run in Indian Wells last week, making it as far as the quarterfinal. She ultimately lost to Angelique Kerber in straight sets.

Earlier this year, she was a quarterfinalist in Auckland too and that time, she had succumbed to Bianca Andreescu. Between these two events, she had a third round stint in the Australian Open.

In Miami, Venus started her journey with a straight-set win over Dalila Jakupovic in the first round.

Suarez Navarro Needs to Find her Rhythm

Carla Suarez Navarro at one point in time was a part of the top 10. She was among the most consistent players on the tour and while she didn’t win that many titles, she certainly reached the final few rounds to keep the momentum going.

However, that hasn’t been the case for the number 24 seed in quite some time. She was knocked out early in all of three events in the Australian Open Series, followed by a second round loss on Doha. In Dubai, she did reach the quarterfinal but once again, she failed to carry that momentum forward to Indian Wells.

She lost her opening round to Natalia Vikhlyantseva in that tournament. Her last significant run came in the WTA New Haven last year when she reached the final and lost to Aryna Sabalenka.

Venus Williams v Carla Suarez Navarro Predictions & Tips

In the three times that Williams has lost to Navarro, one of those defeats came in Miami. It was in 2015 when Navarro was in a considerably better form. This time around, however, she will have a difficult time in repeating that feat. Williams has been quite strong of late as she looks particularly steely.

This should end in a win for Williams and it may not be the simplest of the matches.

Tip: Venus to win at 5/6 with bet365 .
