World No. 26 Anhelina Kalinina hopes to deliver her best Wimbledon showing this week after coming off a rather disappointing prep campaign.
Last competing in Eastbourne International, the Ukrainian lost her opening match to the eventual runner-up Daria Kasatkina. Before that, she featured in the Birmingham International, where she stunned in three sets by the then #134 Harriet Dart.
At SW19, Kalinina has never made it past round two. Although her grass form tells a different story, there is cause to be optimistic nevertheless.
Against all odds, Anhelina was recently the runner-up in the Italian Open – beating Beatriz Haddad Maia, Sofia Kenin, Madison Keys, and Veronika Kudermetova en route. That run came after she had lost her opening bouts in Charleston and Madrid.
She is 17-15 currently, packed with all the skills needed for another good result. The question remains if she can tap into them.

World No. 167, 20-year-old Spaniard Jessica Bouzas Maneiro is set to compete in the first Grand Slam main-draw match of her career.
Starting as a qualifier, she beat Ankita Raina, Clara Burel, and Olivia Gadecki – the first two in three sets, Up until now, she had been largely successful in the Slams – losing in Q3 in Melbourne and Q1 in Paris this season.
Baneiro has picked up 19 wins while losing 14 in 2023. To her name, noteworthy moments include her runner-up feat in ITF Prague 2 and a quarterfinal stint in the Valencia Challenger.
Jessica also tried her luck at the Madrid Open but lost in the opening qualifying match to Leolia Jeanjean.
Kalinina v Maneiro Prediction and Tip
Kalinina starts as the heavy favourite, but given that she has lost to players outside the top 100 a few times this season, that is a possibility against Maneiro too. Punters may want to make note of this, and at 3/1, they may consider backing Jessica for this.
