Elisabetta Cocciaretto will be playing in Wimbledon for the second time in her career.

The 22-year-old Italian had made her Wimbledon debut last year, and had won her first round match. However, she went down in the second round.

Cocciaretto is 17-12 across levels. She produced her best-ever Grand Slam performance at the French Open, reaching the third round of the tournament. The World no. 41 reached her maiden tour level final this year in Hobart, only to finish runner-up to Lauren Davis.

She was also a quarterfinalist in Merida and Monterrey and won her second WTA 125 tournament in San Luis Potosi.

She has played just one grass court tournament in the leadup to Wimbledon, suffering a first round defeat to Katerina Siniakova in the opening round in Bad Homburg.

Osorio Had Made it to the Third Round in 2021

Facing Cocciaretto will be 21-year-old Camila Osorio, who reached the third round of Wimbledon as a qualifier on her debut in 2021. Osorio had beaten Anna Kalinskaya and Ekaterina Alexandrova in the first two rounds but she was stopped from advancing further by Aryna Sabalenka.

Last year, Osorio went down to Elise Mertens in the first round.

Osorio is 19-10 across levels this year. Her best this year saw her reach the semifinal in Lyon. She also produced her best-ever result at a WTA 1000 tournament this year, when she made it to the round of 16 in Rome.

Osorio has an 8-7 career record on grass. While she went 5-2 on the surface in 2021, she lost all four of her matches last year. This year, she featured in Eastbourne. After winning both her qualifying round matches, she went on to win the opening round match against Shelby Rogers, before falling in the round of 16 to Jessica Pegula.

Can Osorio, the world no. 81, get off to a good start in Wimbledon?
