Kevin Anderson v Jaume Munar Head to Head

This is going to be their second match, with the first one having been played at the Pune Open earlier this year. That was a quarter-final match with Anderson winning it quickly enough, 6-3, 6-3 to make it to the next round. Can the Spaniard gain some revenge?

Kevin Anderson Looks for Momentum

Since the start of the season when Kevin Anderson featured at the Abu Dhabi exhibition competition, he hasn’t played too much tennis. The Pune Open was his first, and it was followed by the Australian Open where he got knocked out in the second round but since then he has been kept out of action because of an elbow.

The 2019 Pune Open winner also missed out on the Indian Wells Masters as a result, withdrawing from his second round match against Maximilian Marterer. Now, he looks to be okay and is back and will feature in the Miami Masters with a hope he can defend his points here from the previous season.

Anderson was a quarter-finalist here last year, overcoming Basilashvili, Khachanov and Tiafoe before getting beaten by Carreno-Busta in the last-eight stage.

Sharp Contrast from Munar

While Anderson’s injury has forced him to play in only these two tournaments before coming to Miami, Munar has been globe-trotting in much like the same manner as someone like a Stefanos Tsitsipas. His appearance at the Miami Masters is his ninth tournament of the year – one more than the Greek! – but the unfortunate bit is he hasn’t won too much.

Since his quarter-final loss in the first tournament of the year, the Pune Open, Munar has lost in the opening rounds at Sydney, Australian Open and Indian Wells, having not won more than two matches in a row anywhere.

He is coming off a win over India’s Prajnesh Gunneswaran, who was expected to do well despite being a qualifier, because of his showing at the Indian Wells Masters. That should give him some confidence but more importantly, it would be interesting to see how he goes against a player with a possible side-effects of an elbow-injury and rustiness.

Anderson v Munar Predictions & Tips

It comes as no surprise that Anderson, despite his way superior ranking, is as long as 4/7 to win this match against Munar. We love those odds and will go with them for this one.

Tip: Anderson to win: 4/7 (bet365)
