They played once before and Tsurenko was able to win that match. It was way back in 2011.

Tsurenko Back To Winning Ways

Lesia Tsurenko had a very solid Roland Garros that unfortunately ended with a retirement against Iga Swiatek. She would have likely lost the match anyways but you never want to see a player retire, especially not when she was playing pretty good tennis.

Tsurenko has had an excellent year so far with 30 wins in 40 matches. She’s been playing really and with a lot of confidence which was visible in the first two matches at Wimbledon. Traditionally, Tsurenko has always been a pretty solid player on grass with a 39-30 record all-time.

This time though, there is even more determination from her side to do well and she’s certainly been backing it up on the court. She is an attacking player capable of hitting some great winners and she’ll need to play that way if she hopes to win the match.

It will be tricky but she won the only previous match between them.

Bogdan Surprising Many

Ana Bogdan was always a pretty solid player on grass holding a 19-14 record on the surface right now. The Romanian still surprised many with her performances this year at Wimbledon.

She faced a really tough player in Liudmila Samsonova in round one and beat her which surprised many including the Russian she faced. She then followed that up with another solid performance against Alycia Parks, a player who fits on grass really well.

She likes to play on clay the most which lets you imagine what kind of tennis she plays. Bogdan doesn’t mind the long rallies but she can also create some winners, out of tricky positions too.

The serve will be crucial for her as her opponent will certainly try to attack as soon as she possibly can and if Bogan doesn’t prevent that she’ll be in trouble.

Tsurenko v Bogdan Prediction and Tip

Due to the experience and the way she played this year, I favour Tsurenko to win.

Tips:

  • Moderate Risk Tip: Tsurenko to win: 4/6
