Camila Osorio has played herself into the world’s top 100 this season and the Colombian appears to be back in the thick of things.
A lot will be expected of the crafty Colombian star who was destined for big things on the WTA stage just 12 months ago until injuries and lofty expectations intervened.
Osorio took a hiatus from social media after receiving quite the conundrum of abuse after an inconsistent year on the tour in 2022.
Her ranking plummeted to three digits and literally had to do all that good work she did in the past two seasons from scratch.
She has laid the groundwork again, making a semifinal at the WTA 250 in Lyon in February, and reached the round of 16 in Rome as a qualifier, earning a top-10 win over Caroline Garcia.
She played a decent tuneup tournament for Wimbledon, qualifying for Eastbourne and beating Shelby Rogers. Osorio would take a set off Jessica Pegula whom she lost to in the second round.
Her Wimbledon campaign, however, did not go as planned as she fell to a shock first-round defeat to Italy’s Elisabetta Cocciaretto.

Fiona Ferro has also been through hell in the past season and like Osorio, is just ecstatic to be back playing tennis again and winning matches.
Ferro played just 24 matches in an injury-riddled 2022 season and shut down her campaign in August following a first-round qualifying defeat at the US Open.
After dealing with personal torment during her teenage years, the 26-year-old Frenchwoman made public her accusation of rape and sexual assault by her former coach who has since been charged, a move that was widely backed by her peers and the WTA fraternity.
It wasn’t by coincidence that Ferro started to play well again. She was ranked as high as No. 39 not many seasons ago and won the Palermo Open during the pandemic-hit 2020 season – the second WTA title of her career.
She has plied her trade mostly on the lower tiers due to her low ranking. She has won two ITF titles this year and recently made a semifinal at the 125 event in Contrexeville.
Osorio v Ferro Prediction and Tip
Ferro has fond memories of this tournament having won it on her last appearance in 2020. She also appears to have packaged her game after a turbulent 12 months both mentally and physically. We fancy three sets here considering Osorio’s lack of game time this month.
