Roger Federer v Kevin Anderson Head to Head

Federer and Anderson have met six times on the tour and the head to head record is currently at 5-1 to the Swiss.

They met twice last year – in the Wimbledon and the ATP Finals. In the first case, it was Anderson who clinched his first win over Federer in his career while in the latter, the World No. 5 breezed in the semifinal with a 6-4, 6-3 win.

Federer’s Brilliant Spell this Season

At 37 years of age, Federer has been playing the type of tennis that one could only dream of. With a win-loss record of 12-2 as of Miami Masters, it is hard to believe that he is in his late thirties.

The Swiss recently won his 100th ATP Singles title in Dubai, defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final. Then, he had a brilliant run in the Indian Wells Masters where he reached the final once again. However, to much disappointment, he lost to Dominic Thiem there and had to settle for the runner-up trophy.

Federer’s track record in Miami Open is quite impressive, having won the tournament thrice, winning it as recently 2017. This time around too, he has had a rather comfortable run so far. Except for his opening match against Radu Albot where he was pushed to three sets, he won against Filip Krajinovic and Daniil Medvedev in straight sets.

Anderson’s Slow Start

Anderson hasn’t been that active this season. He started the year with a winning run in the Maharashtra Open, defeating Ivo Karlovic in the final. He then played in the Australian Open where he lost in the second round to Frances Tiafoe.

The South African’s run in Miami has been fairly similar to that of Federer’s. He started with a three-set win over Jaume Munar and then defeated Joao Sousa and Jordan Thompson in straight sets.

Federer v Anderson Predictions & Tips

Federer will start this match as the overwhelming favourite to win. The Swiss has won all of their previous meetings on the hard surface and has been in a much superior form than Anderson this year.

Tip: Under 22.5 games in the match: 8/11 (Bet365)
