Sofia Kenin v Sabine Lisicki Head to Head

This is the first meeting between the two ladies.

Kenin’s Best Start to the Season

Sofia Kenin has had a pretty remarkable start to the year so far, starting with a doubles title win in WTA Auckland and following it with her maiden singles title in WTA Hobart. A few weeks later, she was also a finalist in the Mexican Open – a feat she achieved after edging past Victoria Azarenka and Bianca Andreescu.

The 20-year-old American then played in the Indian Wells Open where she lost in the second round to Elina Svitolina. She incurred an early defeat in Miami too, this time against Andreescu.

On the ITF circuit, she has won four titles and has done well to build her momentum. Earlier this season, she also reached her career-best singles ranking as the World No. 33. Last year too, Kenin reached the semifinal in Mallorca and Quebec.

Lisicki’s Struggles with Injuries

Lisicki, who at one point in time was a highly formidable player, has been struggling with her form for quite some time now. Last year, she incurred a knee injury and her comeback to the tour hasn’t really gone according to the plan.

The last time Lisicki won a singles title was back in 2014 when she lifted the Hong Kong Open trophy. Of late, she has spent most of her time attempting to move past the qualifying rounds. In fact, the German is still seeking her first singles victory this season, with only three appearances so far.

In her last three Grand Slams, she started as a qualifier and lost her opening match, including the one in this year’s Australian Open as well.

Lisicki v Kenin Predictions & Tips

Needless to mention, Kenin will start this match as the overwhelming favourite to win. While Lisicki has the experience on her side, the American has the confidence and momentum needed to reach the next round.

Tip: Under 19.5 games in the match: 10/11 (Bet365)
