Norrie Impressive Since the Season Resumed

After an inconsistent start to the 2020 season, the 25-year-old Brit has found some great form since the season resumed. He was impressive in the Battle of the Brits exhibition event winning four out of his five matches. He came through a tough qualifying campaign at Cincinnati and notched a couple of impressive wins.

But his headline performance came in the first round this week when he beat a much higher ranked Diego Schwartzman. It was a show of determination and grit as the Brit came back from being two sets down to win in five.

A much simpler straight sets win followed against Federico Coria in the second round. With that win, Norrie ensured that he achieved his best-ever showing at the US Open. Considering the fact that he crashed out in the first round last year, he is likely to gain enough points to break back into the top 50 when the next set of rankings is announced.

Fokina Coming off Two Marathon Matches

It has been an exhausting few days for the 21-year-old Spaniard. He has come up against two much higher and more accomplished opponents in Dennis Novak and Hubert Hurkacz and has played out of his skin to come through. These wins are a testament to his mental fortitude as the youngster dug deep to grind out two upsets.

Fokina had his breakthrough season last year when he won two challenger titles. He also reached his maiden ATP event semi-finals at Estoril. That tournament also saw him record his first-ever tour-level win. The Spaniard continued his impressive run and broke into the top 100 rankings. He also qualified for the season-ending Next Gen ATP Finals to cap off a brilliant year.

He hasn’t been as consistent this year but victories this year will give him immense confidence for the rest of the season.

Cameron Norrie v Alejandro Davidovich Fokina Prediction & Tip

Both the players are in decent form but the Brit will start as a favourite in this clash. Fokina has had two marathon matches and it would have taken a lot out of him mentally and physically. Norrie should progress comfortably to the fourth round.

Tip: Norrie to win in straight sets: 13/8 (bet365)
