Jessica Pegula v Jasmine Paolini Head to Head
There have been three previous meetings on the WTA circuit and one at the ITF level and Pegula has won every time. In fact, she is yet to drop a set here.

Pegula Eases Past Putintseva
After getting a first round bye, Pegula made it through to the third round with a straight-set win over Yulia Putintseva. She won 6-4, 6-4 in an hour and 25 minutes to enter round three here.
Pegula’s only difficulties came in the first set – she staved off two break-points in the very first game and while she went 3-1 up, she was broken in the ninth game as she prepared to serve out the set.
In the very next game, however, Pegula clinched the set with a second break of serve and then lost a mere six points on her own serve in the second set. She did not get any breaking opportunities either though till the 10th game of that set.
Down 4-5, Putintseva managed to save three match-points before Pegula clinched it off the fourth.
Can she now build on this success as she hopes to go deep in a tournament she has been to the semifinal twice in a row?

Paolini Gets a Walkover from Keys
Madison Keys was expected to hold the edge in her second round match against Paolini but less than 24 hours after overcoming Venus Williams in the first round of the contest she pulled out of the tournament because of a hip issue.
The beneficiary? Paolini.
Paolini had earlier stunned Donna Vekic in the first round in straight sets, which was only her second outdoor hardcourt tournament victory of the season. She had made it to the quarterfinals at the Lyon Open indoors too but overall, Paolini’s not the most comfortable in hardcourt competitions.
This can also be seen from the fact that before coming into this tournament, Paolini had featured in seven editions of the Australian Open, six at US Open and thrice at the Cincinnati Open but won just one match.
Against Pegula, she might find the going to be a lot tougher.
