Daniil Medvedev v Lorenzo Musetti Head to Head
This will be a repeat of their meeting last week when they faced off for the first time at the Canadian Masters in Toronto. Medvedev had won it 6-4, 6-4.

A winner of five titles in 2023, including four in hardcourt competitions, Medvedev would have fancied his chances of making it deep into the Canadian Masters last week.
He seemed to have begun well too, defeating Matteo Arnaldi and Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets to make the quarterfinal without too much ado.
And then he ended up facing Alex de Minaur at the last eight stage. Medvedev did not have the greatest of matches there, and while he put up a fight, the Russian lost in straight sets to de Minaur.
His 7-6 (7), 7-5 loss could well have gone his way but at crucial junctures in the encounter, de Minaur held firm.
Medvedev now enters a tournament which he has won once before, having also made the semifinal the last two times he’s played. Can he repeat the same showing this time around as well?

Musetti Eases Past Evans
Dan Evans had shown a bit of form in recent times but coming up against an inspired Musetti in the first round here, he proved to be a dead duck.
Musetti, 8/11 to win his opener, completed a 6-4, 6-3 rout of Evans in an hour and 27 minutes to make the second round of this tournament for the first time in his career.
Having entered the third round of the Canadian Masters last week – where he then lost to Medvedev – Musetti broke Evans in the very first game of the match. While Evans levelled things off in the eighth game, he was broken in the very next game before Musetti served it out to grab the first set.
In the second, Musetti dished out some of the best serves one would have seen as he went on to win 16 of the 17 points on his own serve. In the process, he also broke Evans twice and went on seal his second round place.
With Musetti having been steady this season but not at his best in hardcourt competitions, it won’t be a surprise if he struggles against Medvedev.

Medvedev should not have a lot of problems here as he looks to ease his way past Musetti for the second week running. Straight-sets expected.
