Alexander Shevchenko v Marc-Andrea Huesler Head to Head

Their only previous meeting came at the Phoenix Challenger in March and Shevchenko had won that on his way to the final.

Having made the third round at the Italian Open and the second round in Roland-Garros, Shevchenko looked to have hit a rock-bottom with just one win coming in the following five tournaments he featured in.

This included two opening round exits at the Challenger level.

Things looked to have turned around for the better on his shifting to the North American hardcourt swing as he romped past Maxime Cressy and Sebastian Korda to make the third round but it has not been followed up too well.

Dan Evans ended his run there and that was followed by opening defeats at the Cary Challenger and Cincinnati Masters.

He will now start a 9/20 favourite with bet365 as he takes on an out of sorts Huesler.

Huesler’s Wins Have Been Few & Far Between

Huesler hasn’t had the best of seasons and that can be seen in the plummeting of his rankings. Having hit his career-best of 47th in the world in March, Huesler has now fallen to 86th on the charts thanks to a string of poor results.

And that has continued to be an issue even in more recent times with Huesler having last won a main draw match in June. Having qualified for the Eastbourne International, Huesler overcame Ryan Peniston to make it to the second round there before he lost to Francisco Cerundolo.

Since then there have been defeats to Jurij Rodionov, Federico Coria, Daniel Altmaier and Jordan Thompson, leaving him with a lot of question-marks on his next course of action.

Huesler now faces someone ranked just a couple of spots behind him which should have otherwise meant they start off on even keel. Such is Huesler’s form though, it’s tough for the bookmakers to give him evens at this stage.

He starts off a 7/4 (with bet365) underdog here.
