Sebastian Baez v Daniel Elahi Galan Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these two players and both came on the Challenger circuit on clay. It’s 1-1 on head to head.

That Baez isn’t too fond of hardcourt tennis can be seen from at least two ways here.
For starters, his record on that surface for the season is a stunning 1-5 on win-loss with his only victory coming against Rinky Hijikata whose career-best ranking is 110th in the world.
Secondly, since finishing his Wimbledon commitments – where he was bundled out in the first round – Baez has featured in three main tournaments and two exhibition competitions. All of them have come on clay.
What was surprising to watch was that Baez fell in the first round of both, Bastad Open and Hamburg Open, but he would later go on to turn things around win a title win in Kitzbuhel. Baez defeated Dominic Thiem in the final there.
More vitally, in doing so, Baez is yet to play a match in the North American hardcourt swing, and as he kick-starts his US Open tune-up, he will start off a 1/1 (with bet365) underdog against Galan.

Galan Eases Past Albot
Having gone into his opening round encounter as a 3/4 favourite, Galan needed a mere hour and a half to ease to a win over Radu Albot.
Galan was pushed in the second set but by that time he had already romped to a win in the opening set in a mere 27 minutes and with two breaks of serves in the process. In the second set, Galan looked to have all but swept his opponent away by breaking him in the very first game but Albot came back to level things out.
At one stage Albot also took a 4-2 lead but Galan didn’t allow him to serve it out, breaking his serve at 3-5 and then again at 5-5. Soon after that, he served it out to win the encounter.
This was Galan’s first hardcourt main draw victory of the season in six attempts and he will now look to double that count against a player who has been struggling outside of clay. Galan starts out a 3/4 favourite with bet365 here too.
