Marcos Giron v Michael Mmoh Head to Head

There have been two previous meetings at the highest level with both having won one. Their most recent match came in the Acapulco Open earlier this year and Mmoh was a straight-set winner.

They also played on the Challenger in 2017 where Mmoh had won.

Giron Returns after Falling in Cincinnati Qualifiers

Having made it to the third round of the Canadian Masters after having been forced to feature in the qualifiers there as well, Giron would have thought he had a good chance of at least making the main draw at the Cincinnati Masters.

Giron had started off a 4/6 (with bet365) favourite in the first qualifier there but was sent packing in straight sets by Diego Schwartzman.

To have endured that kind of a result after wins over Emil Ruusuvuori and Holger in the previous tournament would have been a huge letdown.

As would have been the case in Washington where Giron lost to Radu Albot in the very first round.

The American looked to have made a solid start to the hardcourt season earlier this year when he won successive matches at Auckland, Dallas and Delray Beach but he has been hounded by consistency issues. Can he quell the Mmoh challenge here which could be a bit of a challenge despite what the bookmakers are saying – he is 7/10 with bet365 to win this.

Mmoh Made to Work by King

Darian King is ranked 497th in the world and at 31, he isn’t quite an improving youngster. That he made it through the qualifiers to enter the main draw was surprising enough but for him to take Mmoh to a third set was quite a shock.

Mmoh was 3/10 (with bet365) to overcome King and 25 minutes into the encounter it looked like the result was going his way with ease. He had broken King twice and grabbed the first set.

Soon after this, however, Mmoh suddenly got the serving yips and was broken three times in a row before managing to hold once. King served out the set to level things out.

Mmoh got the early break in the third set, but just as one thought his confidence was getting restored, he was broken back. He then saved two break-points in the fifth game before finally managing a decisive break in the eighth game.

He will need to do better than this with his serving against Giron.

Giron v Mmoh Prediction and Tip

While Giron has had his struggles he will be going up against a player like Mmoh who has himself not won a lot. A tight battle could result in a three-setter.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Giron to win: 8/11 (with bet365)
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Over 20.5 games in the match: 5/6 (with bet365)
