Gasquet Doing Great in Winston-Salem

No matter how many times people want to put Gasquet in the retirement train, the French veteran simply refuses to do so. He’s had some impressive wins this year, such as the one over Stefanos Tsitsipas in Stuttgart. He won a trophy earlier this year as well.

Grand Slams have also been a solid experience, with some wins, and he’ll certainly look to add to that against a fairly inexperienced player in New York. His score is not that spectacular at 22-24, but that’s the thing. He’s not great all the time, but he can be great at times.

He was pretty great in Winston-Salem this week, winning a couple of great events. He ultimately lost to Sebastian Korda, but it will give him time to recover for this match.

He had a really good run last year in New York making his way to the 3rd round, where Rafael Nadal beat him. I certainly expect him to do well in round one, and then we’ll see. He’s 9-6 on hard courts this year.

Marozsan Eyeing An Upset

Marozsan is not foreign to upsets as he bested world number one Carlos Alcaraz in Rome this year. This one would be far less impressive, but the Hungarian has proved himself to be a capable player even though hard courts is not his preferred type.

The year overall has been pretty impressive for the Hungarian, but most of that happened on clay. He’s 40-22 so far this year, but 34 of those wins came on clay, and only 2 wins came on hard courts. He’s 29-13 all-time on hard courts so it’s not like he’s a beginner.

The form leading up to the match hasn’t been that great as he last played a while ago, and it was on clay. He hasn’t played on hard courts for a while, so it will certainly take him time to adjust.

Gasquet won’t give him that time, making this a tough matchup.

Gasquet v Marozsan Prediction and Tip

Gasquet is the heavy favourite here due to his experience and just better overall play on hard courts. Take him to win.
