Frances Tiafoe v Adrian Mannarino Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these two players with both winning one apiece.
Mannarino won in 2016 at the Washington Open while Tiafoe’s victory came at the US Open in 2018.

It’s not been one of Tiafoe’s best North American hardcourt swing, especially for a player ranked 10th in the world. Having said that, however, he looks to have turned things around here at the US Open with Tiafoe winning successive matches in straight sets to set up this third round meeting.
After having overcome Learner Tien in the first round, Tiafoe dropped just eight games on his way to defeating Sebastian Ofner in the second.
Tiafoe was on court for an hour and a half as he grabbed a 6-3, 6-1, 6-4 win in a match where he faced – and saved – one break-point. A first serve winning percentage of 88% ensured he was never in trouble with his serve while also winning 56% of the points off his opponent’s serve.
What Tiafoe would like to improve upon against Mannarino is his winners’ count given the quality of opposition will be that much better as the tournament goes ahead. He starts a 3/10 favourite (with bet365) to win this encounter.

Mannarino Hoping for a Maiden Fourth Round Slot
Fabian Marozsan was featuring in his first hardcourt competition since March and had done well to stun French veteran Richard Gasquet in the first round. Mannarino ensured that he didn’t become another French veteran to go down to Marozsan in the second.
In a match lasting two hours and 15 minutes, Mannarino registered a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-1 win over Marozsan to reach the third round of the US Open. In doing so he emulated his best ever showing at this Grand Slam and will now be aiming for his maiden entry into round four.
He will need to do slightly better than 60% of the first serves that went in for him, and even the 52% of the second serve points he won against a player of Tiafoe’s capabilities.
Mannarino, however, has some excellent form, and hence confidence, from the rest of the season going for him as he aims to claw back into the top 30 with a win here. He is a distant 5/2 (bet365) favourite here.
