Wozniacki is only in her third tournament since her comeback to tennis after having retired from the sport in early 2020. She made the second round in the Canadian Open and was then ousted in the first round of the Cincinnati Open in her first two tournaments on return.
Here, at the US Open, the former finalist, has now won back to back matches for the first time since return.
In the first round, Wozkniacki overcame qualifier Tatiana Prozorova with ease but it was in the second round that the Dane showed she still belongs to this level of tennis.
Wozniacki was on court for two hours and 10 minutes in which she staved off three breaks of serves to win it 7-5, 7-6 (5). Down 2-4 in the first set, Wozniacki came back to break her opponent twice and clinch the set, while in the second she was 4-2 ahead only for Kvitova to push it into a tie-breaker.
In the second tie-breaker, Wozniacki went 4-1 ahead before finishing it off soon after.
Interestingly, bet365 have pegged Wozniacki as a favourite at 4/5.

Brady Goes Past Linette
Brady herself is making a comeback to competitive tennis after being away for nearly two years because of fitness concerns. She had played in four tournaments coming into the 2023 US Open, including one on the ITF circuit, and won just three matches in it and never two in a row.
Much like Wozniacki, Brady has also made it successive wins for the first time since her comeback, as she defeated Kimberly Birrell and Magda Linette to seal her third round berth.
A former semifinalist herself at this tournament, Brady was pushed to three sets by the 6/4 (with bet365) underdog Linette in the second round but came through in a match lasting two hours and five minutes.
Losing her serve four times in the match, Brady was able to do the same to Linette on six occasions which gave her a 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 win.
Against Wozniacki, Brady will need to do a lot better with her serves, having won just 56% of her service points against Linette.
Wozniacki v Brady Prediction and Tip
Wozniacki holds a slight edge but at 1/1, we think Brady has a good chance here to come through. Could see a third set too.
