US Open 2023 Predictions & Tips for Thursday, September 7

Aryna Sabalenka v Madison Keys

Sabalenka’s run to the semifinal has seen her drop not more than five games in a match so far. And that tells us she should not have a lot of problems against Keys but it will be interesting to see how she copes up with the local crowds who would be firmly in favour of the American.

We still think that Sabalenka holds a huge advantage but there could be a few moments here and there where the Belarusian could be tested. Keys could take advantage of that.

Cori Gauff v Karolina Muchova

Both players are in top form, but Gauff won the Cincinnati final in straight sets and that was not long ago.

So the American will hold the psychological edge going into this contest. Expect her to keep the streak going and advance to another major final.

Rohan Bopanna/Matthew Ebden v Pierre Hugues Herbert/Nicolas Mahut

Given the experience that Bopanna and Ebden bring to this encounter, it’s no surprise they start off a favourite but we think it might not be a straightforward one as they look to make it to their first Grand Slam final as a pair.

Backing a three-setter here which Bopanna/Ebden win.

Bopanna/Ebden v Herbert/Mahut Prediction: Bopanna/Ebden to win: 8/11 (with bet365)

Rajeev Ram/Joe Salisbury v Ivan Dodig/Austin Krajicek

Ram and Salisbury have been around for a while and are also two-time defending champions at the US Open. They had also won the 2020 Australian Open and then made the final at the 2021 edition of that tournament before Dodig combined with Filip Polasek to defeat them in that final.

Since then Dodig has gone on to add a Grand Slam doubles title to his tally with his new partner Krajicek, when they defeated Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen at the 2023 French Open final to win it.

This could lead to a keen tussle we think that ends with the match going into a third set.

Ram/Salisbury v Dodig/Krajicek Prediction: Three sets in the match: 11/10 (with bet365)
