Aryna Sabalenka v Madison Keys Head to Head

There have been three previous meetings between these two players and Sabalenka leads 2-1. Sabalenka won at the 2018 Cincinnati Open while Keys responded with a victory on the grass courts of Berlin in 2021.

Their last meeting came at the 2023 Wimbledon where Sabalenka came away a 6-2, 6-4 winner.

Sabalenka Continues to Ease Past Opponents

For the fifth match in a row, Sabalenka did not spend too much time on court and came away a straight-set winner in her quarterfinal.

Sabalenka, who hadn’t dropped more than five games in any of her previous four rounds, routed Qinwen Zheng 6-1, 6-4 to reach her fourth successive Grand Slam semifinal.

The match lasted a mere 73 minutes as Sabalenka continued her celebrations as the new number one with a crushing win. Such was Sabalenka’s dominance, especially on her serve, the Belarusian lost a mere nine points on it and faced no break-points.

On the other hand, she broke Qinwen three times and Sabalenka did that by reducing her unforced errors to 12 in the encounter. Unfortunately for Qinwen, her inability to clinch points on the world number two’s serve made it improbable to even take the encounter into a third.

This follows a 6-1, 6-3 win for Sabalenka over Daria Kasatkina and given the kind of form she is in, it’s difficult to see how she manages to get beaten – and that’s reflected in the 1/3 odds on offer for her win win with bet365.

Keys Ends Vondrousova’s Grand Slam Run

Marketa Vondrousova was 11-0 in Grand Slam tennis coming into her quarterfinal but there were question-marks over her shoulder having struggled through her previous round as a result of that as well.

Keys took full toll of that by getting off to a flying start and then consolidating into a 6-1, 6-4 win over Vondrousova in her quarterfinal.

Having stunned Jessica Pegula in straight sets in the previous round, Keys made it her second top-10 win in a row by racing off to a 5-0 lead in against the Wimbledon winner. She saved three break-points in the process and then off the third set-point off her own serve, she grabbed the first set.

The second set saw Vondrousova hold on to her end of things and even garner a further six more break-points to take the lead. Keys staved them all off – she saved a total of nine break-points in the match – before breaking her opponent in the ninth game with the first opportunity she got.

Soon after that, Keys was serving for the match and clinched it off her third match-point.

In her third US Open semifinal now, Keys will be gunning for her second finals spot at this tournament but is a distant 5/2 (with bet365) to win it.

Sabalenka v Keys Prediction and Tip

Sabalenka should not have a lot of problems again but it will be interesting to see how she copes up with the local crowds who would be firmly in favour of Keys.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Over 9.5 games in the first set: 4/9 (with bet365)
  • High Risk Tip: Sabalenka to win AND Over 20.5 games in the match: 6/4 (with bet365)
