Alycia Parks v Anastasia Potapova Head to Head

Parks and Potapova have never faced off in a competitive match before this.

Parks Hoping to Show More Consistency

While Parks hit a career-high ranking of 40th in the world this season – and at the time of writing is two away from that – her recent performances have left a lot to desire.

In fact, since winning successive matches on the clay courts of the Rabat Open in May, Parks hasn’t done that again. That’s across eight tournaments in which the American has won just two main draw matches.

This includes a first round exit at the US Open last week where she was beaten in three sets by Daria Kasatkina.

While Kasatkina is a top-20 players, defeats to Aliaksandra Sasnovich, Hailey Baptiste and Anna Bogdan in recent times would have been a cause of concern.

Parks will now have another tough encounter first up, at least as far as experience and ranking difference is concerned and she starts off a 6/4 underdog here with bet365 here.

Potapova in Hardcourt Struggles

Since reaching the semifinal at the Birmingham International and the third round at Wimbledon – both tournaments on grass – Potapova has struggled to get going.

Turning her attention to the hardcourts of North American, Potapova has lost four of her following five matches which includes three first round losses. Some of it could be to do with her fitness concerns at the Washington Open where she was forced to retire from her opener against Belinda Bencic.

The first half of this season, however, was way kinder to the Russian. In fact so much so that Potapova not only won a title indoors in Linz, she also hit a career-high ranking of 21st on the circuit as recently as in June.

Potapova enters this tournament on the back of an overall win-loss of 9-11 in hardcourt competitions this season and that’s something she would like to turn around. Can she live up to her 3/5 odds with bet365 to win this?

Parks v Potapova Prediction and Tip

Potapova might not have it easy but we think she should clinch this match-up between two players who haven’t won too much recently.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Potapova to win: 3/5 (with bet365)
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Over 20.5 games in the match: 5/6 (with bet365)
