Sara Sorribes Torma v Christina McHale Head to Head

This the first time that the Spaniard and her American opponent have met.

Sorribes Torma Playing One of Her Favourite Tournaments

Spaniard Sorribes Torma has never one a senior WTA title, but, significantly perhaps, of the seven ITF tournament wins to her name, six of them have come on clay. It is also worth noting that her best senior WTA performance to date came at this same tournament two years ago, when she reached the semi-final, so this is an event she enjoys.

Her best result of the year so far came in the ITF Challenger Event in Australia where she reached the semi-finals, and whilst she failed to qualify in Indian Wells, she did reach the second round in Miami. Most recently she lost to Sloane Stephens in Charleston in straight sets, but both went to a tie break.

Little Form Shown by McHale in 2019

Once ranked as high as 24 in the world, McHale has very little form to talk of in 2019. Probably her best result came in Indian Wells where she got to the third round, beating the number thirty seed on the way, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, before going down to Venus Williams in straight sets.

But she failed to get out of qualifying in Miami, beaten by Luxembourg’s Mandy Minella, and suffered a similar fate on the clay of Charleston, where she was beaten by Kristina Kucova of Slovakia before even reaching the main draw.

With these kind of results under her belt, she would probably hope for the change in surfaces coming to her rescue but even so, Sorribes Torma will have the confidence going into this encounter.

Sorribes Torma v McHale Predictions & Tips

Sorribes Torma will start the odds-on favourite to win this match at 8/19, whilst McHale is priced at 11/8. McHale has little form going into this match, whilst the Spaniard is playing on a surface, and in a tournament, she likes. She should win comfortably.

Tip: Sorribes Torma to win in straight sets: 6/5 (Betfair)
