Lucia Bronzetti v Ya Yi Yang Head to Head

This will be the first match between the 24 year old Italian, and her Chinese opponent, who is five years younger.

Bronzetti in Good Recent Form

Bronzetti has already enjoyed a good season, winning her maiden WTA title on clay in Rabat in May, where she overcame the Austrian Julia Grabher in three sets in the final.

And she then showed her adaptability by reaching another final, this time on grass at Bad Homburg, although it was the Czech Katerina Siniakova, who lifted the trophy on that occasion.

With a Challenger final also under her belt in April, the Italian can take some satisfaction from her efforts to date, especially as she reached the third round of the US Open, her best ever performance at a Grand Slam.

There she beat a former French Open champion in the form of Barbora Krejcikova, and then Eva Lys of Germany, before her run was ended by a Chinese opponent, the world number 22, Qinwen Zheng.

This will be her first match since that New York defeat.

Main Tour Debut for Yang

Yang will be making her main tour debut against Bronzetti, having come through qualifying in Guangzhou.

The 19 year old has enjoyed a strong few months on the ITF circuit, reaching and winning four singles finals, two of them on home soil in Taiwan, and two in neighbouring Hong Kong.

And she also added a doubles title in Taiwan to her expanding collection, and played for her country in the Billie Jean King Cup.

She breezed past Yu Shan of China in the first round of qualifying, dropping just four games to her.

And then she had a stroke of luck when her second round opponent, Jessika Ponchet of France, the world number 149, was forced to retire from their match with an injury.

Yang was a set and a break up at the time.

Bronzetti v Yang Prediction and Tip

Although playing her first match on the WTA tour will be a big occasion for Yang, Bronzetti has been in good recent form, and should be too strong for the teenage Taiwanese.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Bronzetti to win: 2/9 (with bet365)
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Under 21.5 games in the match: 5/6 (with bet365)
