Since New York, he won both his singles matches playing for France in the Davis Cup against Australia.

Chengdu Quarter-Finalist Rinderknech
Rinderknech achieved success earlier this year on clay, winning a Challenger event in Switzerland in July, and, from there, going on to Kitzbuhel where he reached the quarter-finals.
To show that he can play on other surfaces, he then reached for the first time in his career, his best showing to date in a Grand Slam, before going down in straight sets to Andrey Rublev.
In the second round in New York, he had defeated Matteo Berrettini, although he was aided by a retirement from the Italian.
Last week he made the long trip to China and Chengdu, where he reached the quarter-finals before losing to the number two seed, Lorenzo Musetti. He will hope to have recovered physically by the time he takes on his compatriot.

As the higher ranked player and the seed, and with the advantage of having won their previous match, Mannarino will start the favourite for this all-French first round clash.
