It’s been the kind of season that Moutet will hope he doesn’t have to endure again.
Once ranked 51st in the world, Moutet’s form has fallen so badly that he is now 122nd on the ATP charts with wins very difficult to come by.
Before coming into the Chengdu Open last week, Moutet’s last win at the highest level had come in Newport where he had made the second round. Since then he had featured in five ATP tournaments and never won a main draw encounter till he reached Chengdu.
And even there, Moutet overcame Tao Mu, a player ranked 573rd, in the first round before getting crushed by Miomir Kecmanovic in the second.
He will have a battle on his hands despite starting out a favourite here with bet365 offering 1/3 for his victory.

Kachmazov Yet to Win a Main Draw Match
For the second week running, the 21-year-old Kachmazov will be featuring in the main draw of an ATP event. Before this season, he had played in just two other main draw matches at the highest level and in these three matches he’s played so far, he is yet to win one.
It does look, however, that Kachmazov belongs to the highest level.
He had made it through the qualifiers at the Chengdu Open, overcoming Tu Li in one of the matches there despite starting out a 9/5 underdog. And now against Fabian Marozsan in the first qualifying round here in Astana, Kachmazov was a similar 9/5 underdog again.
He won 6-2, 6-4 on his way to the main draw.
While Kachmazov has never won a main draw match it does look like given his opponent’s overall form, he could have a chance here.
