Andrey Rublev v Cameron Norrie Head to Head

There have been four previous meetings between these two players and both have won two apiece. In their only meeting this season which came at the Indian Wells Masters, Norrie had raced off to a straight-set win.

Rublev Returning after US Open Quarters

While Rublev did feature in the Laver Cup taking on the Team Europe, he played just one singles match and lost to Taylor Fritz. That’s not much of an indicator of Rublev’s form this season and more importantly of his form in recent times.

Because Rublev is coming off a solid performance at the US Open in what was his last tournament with the Russian having only lost to Daniil Medvedev in the end.

He had looked a tad scratchy before that but Rublev has also won a couple of ATP titles this year including one at an ATP 1000 event at Monte-Carlo. On hardcourts, Rublev made the Australian Open quarterfinals and was a finalist at the ATP Dubai in the first quarter of the season.

Rublev enters this tournament with a rather challenging opening round opponent in a world number 17 but still starts off 1/2 favourite with 888Sport.

Norrie Form Has Slumped

When Norrie defeated Carlos Alcaraz in the final of the Rio Open in February and then made the quarterfinal at the Indian Wells Masters, it looked like he had thrown in his hat early to end up making the ATP Finals in Turin.

Unfortunately for Norrie, the once-11th-ranked player this season has slumped to 17th in the world and he is now down to 15th in the Race to Turin.

Norrie comes into this tournament with a third round appearance at the US Open where he was shocked by Matteo Arnaldi (who was 3/1 at 888Sport in that encounter). He then lost both his Davis Cup matches, before getting sent packing by Aslan Karatsev in his second match at Zhuhai last week.

He now faces a rather tough opponent in Rublev and it is a reflection of his own form as much as his opponent’s that bet365 are offering 8/5 for his victory.

Rublev v Norrie Prediction and Tip

Backing Rublev to clinch this win. While the match might go to a third, we think Rublev will hold control through most part of the encounter.
