Ons Jabeur v Nadia Podoroska Head to Head

Jabeur and Podoroska have never faced off before this.

Jabeur Stretched by Zvonareva

There are patches of play in Jabeur’s game still which make one believe she isn’t fully there yet when it comes to her rhythm. Take for example, her quarterfinal appearance against Vera Zvonareva in a match where she a 1/10 favourite to win (according to bet365).

And while she did win, those odds seemed to suggest she should have done that in a lot easier manner than a nervy three-setter that lasted two hours and 37 minutes.

Jabeur was down 0-2 at one stage in the first set and then saw Zvonareva serve for it at 5-2 before she finally got a move on by breaking her opponent three times in a row.

Just when one thought she had turned things around, Jabeur lost her serve three times in the second set to allow Zvonareva a comeback. And it was only in the decider that Jabeur was able to pull away and pull off a win.

That doesn’t change the fact that she will still be a very heavy favourite here with bet365 offering 1/3 for her win.

Podoroska Has No Trouble Against Siniakova

Podoroska had entered the quarterfinal as a distant second favourite against Katerina Siniakova with bet365 offering 2/1 for her win.

By the time the match was over, some hour and a half after it started, Podoroska might have been wondering what was all the fuss about had she known those were the odds on offer.

Because she broke Siniakova five times in a match in which carved out 17 break-point opportunities while saving all five of those that went against her. In the end, she came away a 6-1, 6-1 winner, a scoreline that was rather surprising given Podoroska’s fondness for clay court surfaces and not too much else.

She now faces a way bigger test against Jabeur but will go into the encounter with nothing to lose. And with the kind of rhythm she has been in, it won’t be a surprise if she gives Jabeur a bit of a run.

Jabeur v Podoroska Prediction and Tip

While we think Jabeur should clinch in straight sets, we could also see Podoroska make one of the sets an interesting one that even goes to a tie-breaker.
