Jabeur Eases Past Krueger
Jabeur extended her winning run on the WTA circuit to six wins when she overcame Ashlyn Krueger in the first round of the China Open.
Having gone into the match as a 1/4 favourite with 888Sport, Jabeur did not spend a lot on court as he closed out the victory in straight sets. She won 6-3, 6-4 despite getting broken twice in the encounter.
The first set proved to be a bit of a lesson in playing one of the top players in the world for Krueger as she faced at least one break-point in four of the five games she served in. Jabeur broke her twice.
In the second, it was Krueger who took the lead with a surprise break but then lost her serve twice. Jabeur then herself dropped her serve for the second time but proved that experience counts for a lot when she broke a nervous Krueger serving to stay in the match.
Jabeur will hope to make it seven wins on the bounce now having entered this tournament as a Ningbo Open winner.

Kostyuk Makes Comeback Win over Cocciaretto
While she had lost both of her previous two matches coming into this one, Kostyuk was a 2/5 favourite against Elisabetta Cocciaretto in this opener.
In about 30 minutes, Kostyuk looked like she was in the danger of losing her third match in a row when her opponent grabbed the first set on the back of three successive breaks of serves.
Kostyuk came back in the second with a break in the first game before clinching it with a couple more breaks of serves. The confidence back, Kostyuk still needed to overcome four breaks of serves that were exchanged between the two before she put pressure on Cocciaretto’s serve in the 10th game of the decider and clinched her victory.
The last time Kostyuk won two matches in a row was seven tournaments ago in Washington. The good news is she had beaten a top-10 players – Caroline Garcia – to get there.
Jabeur v Kostyuk Prediction and Tip
While Kostyuk has beaten top-10 players in the past – both of her wins having come this year – those were against Garcia and Maria Sakkari. The two were in a rather underwhelming streak of form and were playing like anything but a top-10 player. Jabeur will be a way tougher nut to crack.
