Daniil Medvedev v Jannik Sinner Head to Head

There have been six previous meetings between these two players and Medvedev has won every single time.

Medvedev v Sinner Match Winning Odds*

2019 Winner Medvedev in Line for Another Title

Following on from a final appearance at the US Open, Medvedev has taken another stab at winning a title by getting to that stage here in Beijing too.

And he’s done that by demolishing the Alexander Zverev challenge, defeating the German 6-4, 6-3 in their semifinal.

Having dropped a set to Ugo Humbert in the previous round, Medvedev needed just an hour and 26 minutes in what was probably some of his best tennis for the season. He saved all four of the break-points he faced too while getting past Zverev’s serve twice – once in each of the two sets.

With a first serve winning statistic of 80% and having lost just five second serve points, it was no surprise that Medvedev managed to come away that easy a winner in the end.

But that’s also been the story for Medvedev in recent times, having beaten the likes of Alex de Minaur, Andrey Rublev, Carlos Alcaraz and now Zverev across his last two tournaments. No surprises then to see him start a huge favourite here.

Sinner Overturns the Odds against Alcaraz

Having started off as 27/10 odds underdog against Carlos Alcaraz, Sinner came away with a stunning win in his semifinal.

The world number seven sent the Wimbledon champion sprawling as he registered a 7-6 (4), 6-1 victory over Alcaraz in a match lasting nearly two hours.

Down a break of serve on two occasions in the first set, Sinner fought back both times to level things out and make it 3-3. And once it had gotten into the tie-breaker, Sinner earned two mini-breaks early enough to clinch a 5-2 lead. Following that he wrapped the set up quickly and took things to another level in the second.

He broke Alcaraz in the very first game of the second set and never looked back from that point onward, breaking him two more times to grab his spot in the final.

This follows a three-set win over Grigor Dimitrov in the previous round and win or lose this match, Sinner will enter the new week ranked fourth in the world for the first time. That should give him a lot of confidence here.

Medvedev v Sinner Prediction and Tip

Medvedev has had the wood over Sinner and unless he himself loses his form in the lead-up to a match against the Italian, it would be tough to see him lose this one. Might even see a straight-set win for Medvedev here.
