Sakkari v Wang Match Winning Odds*

Sakkari Ousts Fruhvirtova

Continuing to build on her solid form, Maria Sakkari ousted Linda Fruhvirtova in the second round of the China Open on Tuesday.

The sixth seed, who had a first round bye, needed an hour and 31 minutes to beat the world no. 98, 6-4, 6-2.

Sakkari broke early in the first set, but saw her lead vanish as Fruhvirtova broke twice to get her nose in front. But Sakkari broke the Czech two more times in the set to take a one-set-to-love lead.

Sakkari dominated the second set though, saving all three of the break points that she faced in the set and converting 2 of 6 break points to complete the win.

Sakkari had won her second career title and a first of the season in Guadalajara two weeks ago. And she followed that triumphant run with a semifinal finish in Tokyo.

Sakkari is 37-20 this season and will be hoping to reach a fourth consecutive quarterfinal, which will be her 10th quarterfinal of the season.
