World no. 80 Alexandre Muller has had a decent year so far. The Frenchman’s best this season came in Marrakech where he reached his first ever ATP final. However, he could not lift the title and instead finished runner-up to Roberto Carballés Baena.
Muller also reached the quarterfinal in Doha after qualifying for the main draw of that tournament.
Since those two performances, he hasn’t done a lot at the tour level and that is reflected in a 9-11 season record. But he has produced results at the Challenger level, winning the title in Montechiarugolo, Italy on clay and finishing runner-up in Waco, Texas on hard.
More recently, he was a semifinalist in Cassis Challenger last month. While at the tour level, he lost in the second round in Zhuhai and fell in the second qualifying round in Astana.

Kukushkin Comes Through Qualifiers
Mikhail Kukushkin made it to the main draw with a 6-3, 6-3 victory against Australia’s Luke Saville.
The Kazakh saved the only break point that he faced and converted 3 of 12 to beat the world no. 300.
Ranked no. 246th, Kukushkin had beaten China’s Tao Mu 6-2, 6-4 in the first qualifying round.
This is just his second tour level event of the season. Kukushkin had played in the Astana Open last week, but he went down to Nuno Borges in the first round.
The 35-year-old Russian-born player has a 20-19 record across levels this year, which includes two runner-up finishes at the Challenger level.
Can Kukushkin, who has a 24-36 record at the Masters 1000 level, carry his qualifying round form into the main draw?
