Musetti Hoping to Continue Winning Early Rounds
Musetti’s right not 18th in the world, close to his career-best of 15th and the reason for him being in and around that number isn’t because he’s been winning a lot of tournaments.
Quite the contrary in fact.
The Italian player has not made a single final the whole of this year and yet, he has a win-loss record of 33-25. And that’s because since the end of March this year, Musetti has featured in 16 tournaments at the highest level and lost his opener just twice!
That might not seem like much of a stat but it points to the consistency with which Musetti has won the first and most times the second round matches of all but two of the tournaments he’s played in the last six months.
And he has a good chance to do that yet again as he takes on a player who has never been ranked better than 180th in the world.

Yu-hsiou Surprise for Purcell
Having qualified for this tournament by grabbing back to back wins in the qualifying rounds, Yu-hsiou wasn’t expected to do too much in what was going to be just his fourth main draw match at the highest level against Max Purcell.
He had also started out a 8/5 underdog in the encounter.
Two hours and 50 minutes and three sets later, Yu-hsiou had punched way beyond his weight and sealed off a 7-6 (5), 4-6, 6-4 win over his Aussie opponent.
This followed a second round appearance at the US Open for Yu-hsiou, who had again come through the qualifiers there.
He will now face a much tougher opponent and what he would like to do is pull off something special, even if it means he doesn’t go on to win it.
