Eubanks enters this tournament as a seeded player with a first round bye and that has been thanks to the season he has had. So much so that having begun the year ranked 129th in the world, the American broke into the top 30 on the ATP charts not so long ago.
It was at Wimbledon that he came into his own, defeating Cameron Norrie and Stefanos Tsitipas on his way to the quarterfinals.
Since then, Eubanks hasn’t found as much success with five hardcourt competitions leading to four wins and five defeats but this does happen at times after a player has delivered his or her best result. A break of over a month would have done him a world of good though.

Hanfmann Overcomes Duckworth
Despite being known for his performances on clay more than hardcourt, Hanfmann found a way to overcome James Duckworth in the first round.
It wasn’t the most straightforward of wins with Hanfmann dropping four match-points in the second set before winning it in the third. In a match lasting nearly two and a half hours, Hanfmann clinched a 6-4, 6-7 (10), 6-3 win over Duckworth.
Rather interestingly, Hanfmann found a way to get broken in the entire match while getting the better of his Aussie opponent’s serve two times.
And in clinching the win, Hanfmann had registered his first victory in a hardcourt competition too this season and just fourth in his career.
